Woolton Community Life Befriending Service were delighted to hold its first Beneficiary Tea Party on Saturday 18th June, 2016 and privileged to have the use of St. Mary’s Church Hall, which looked so pretty and beautifully decorated by our volunteers. We were blessed with good weather on the day with the warming rays of sunshine sparkling throughout the hall welcoming in our beneficiaries and guests.
Our beneficiaries and befrienders enjoyed the delights of a wonderful tea party, good food, lots of tea and the most delicious cakes!
The tea party provided an opportunity for the coming together and making of new friends for our beneficiaries. It was a most enjoyable afternoon, with such good hearted and very entertaining company; beneficiaries, befrienders, trustees and volunteers. We had lots of chatter and heart-warming laughter echoed around the sunlight room. Background music was just perfect; we even had a Strictly Come Dancing exhibition staged by our very own trustees and beneficiaries. Thank you to Anita, Jeff, Alan and Mary for some very impressive moves and dancing.
The raffles prizes were very fitting with a beautiful flower arrangement, chocolates, biscuits, bottles of …….. Yes, one or two bottles of port and wine.
The beneficiaries left laden with variety of gifts, a celebratory book and plants, not forgetting their personally wrapped gingerbread men. The volunteers of Woolton Community Life thoroughly enjoyed supporting the event, and felt it was so rewarding being able to see our beneficiaries happy.
There are so many people to thank for the success of this event, St. Mary’s Church, Waterfields, Ellie Benson, Sainsbury’s and finally to our wonderful committed volunteers.
Measure of success was to hear comments from our beneficiaries such as:
“I’m so looking forward to meeting new friends” “I’m so very excited – what should I wear?” “Please, can you do this more often?”
“It’s been wonderful – I’m so happy” “It’s been such great fun – what great people” “I made a trip to the hairdressers especially for this occasion”
